First Look – The Lightning Emperors

First Look – The Lightning Emperors

Four days ago, on 10/29/18, patch number 4.1.12 was released! We got a bunch of minor updates, but the main focus of this update are the two new monsters – the Lightning Emperors and the Giant Warriors! Today, I’m going to take a first-look at the Lightning Emperors and their unique mechanic: the Knowledge mechanic!

I’ve been super busy, looking for skill icons for these two mons, so I’m sorry these first look articles are kinda late.

Disclaimer: As of this writing. I do not own any of the Lightning Emperors, nor am I factoring in multipliers or skills when fully skilled up.

Baleygr (Fire Lightning Emperor) [Attack]

So this guy’s actually fusable! He’s our brand new fusion, after Jeanne, who everyone thought sucked, but then turned out to be Chandra’s waifu. Anyway, I’m sorta fawning over how hot the unawakened Lightning Emperors are, but that won’t stop me from doing first looks on their skills!

Lightning Strike: Attacks the enemy and steals one beneficial effect with a 50% chance. So this is Baleygr’s (and everyone’s) first skill. It may not seem like much at first, but it actually plays into his passive, which we’re going to talk about now…

Gain Knowledge (Passive): Gains Knowledge by the number of granted beneficial effects when you’re granted with a beneficial effect. Gains 3 Knowledge when an enemy or ally gets defeated. You can have up to 5 Knowledge. [Automatic Effect] See, this passive here is the main gimmick of the Lightning Emperors. Because it’s technically a second skill, there are two versions of it. This is obviously the more overpowered second skill. I mean, you gain three Knowledge points when anyone on the battlefield dies!

“But what IS Knowledge, exactly?” You may ask yourself. Well, when a Lightning Emperor has Knowledge, he’ll unlock his third skill…

Start of Apocalypse: Attacks the enemies in the order of low HP ratio to high HP ratio by the number of Knowledge you have, and the damage increases as you attack. If you have 5 Knowledge, destroys the enemy’s MAX HP by 50% of the damage dealt. This skill can be used when you have at least 1 Knowledge, and all Knowledge will be consumed once you use the skill. This is also the main gimmick of the Lightning Emperors; their third skills have, like, no cooldown on them (with the exception of Odin) and are ridiculously OP; even more OP when the Lightning Emperor has 5 Knowledge.

I would like to take a moment to remind you all that Baleygr here can be fused! EVERYONE can have him if they want to! Remember that in the previous fusion, Jeanne’s third skill was just “Provokes everyone for 2 turns.”  Remember that she had to get buffed multiple times for her to become a Chandra waifu. But with this guym not only is he a massive nuke, but he can destroy HP, and he’s fusable!

Do you smell that, guys? That’s the smell of a Lightning Emperor nerf coming soon. Com2uS is gonna pull a twins on us again. Calling it now y’all.

Bolverk (Water Lightning Emperor) [HP]

And here we have Bolverk, the water Lightning Emperor.

Lightning Strike: Attacks the enemy and steals one beneficial effect with a 50% chance. Same old Lightning Strike.

Learn Knowledge (Passive): Gains Knowledge by the number of granted beneficial effects when you or an enemy is granted with a beneficial effect. You can have up to 5 Knowledge. [Automatic Effect] This is the weaker version of a Knowledge-bringing passive; where the “3 Knowledge if a peepz die” part is replaced with any enemy being granted with a beneficial effect. I like the other Knowledge-granting passive better. Good thing that’s the main second skill!

Forbidden Galdr: Decreases the HP of the enemy target (bosses excluded) by 10% for every Knowledge. If you have 5 Knowledge decreases the target’s MAX HP by 50% instead. After that, heals all allies by the decreased HP. This skill can be used when you have at least 1 Knowledge, and all Knowledge will be consumed once you use this skill. …What.

What. The. Frick.

So Bolverk here just became known as an OP Mo Long. Yes, I said it. There is now an overpowered version of the monster who has defense break, AoE strip, AoE stun, and a massive nuke (IN ONE KIT, MIND YOU). I mean, yeah, Bolverk doesn’t bring the stun or the AoE part of the strip (or the defense break for that matter) but can we talk about how this guy destroys 50% of the target’s max HP and heals everyone for that damage?!

REMINDER THAT THIS SKILL HAS NO COOLDOWN, EITHER!

Odin (Wind Lightning Emperor) [Attack]

Fun fact: Did you know I actually have a friend whose username is Odin? Yes, the jokes of himself being overpowered are constant. Yes, I’m kinda sick of them. Don’t tell him please.

Lightning Strike: Attacks the enemy and steals one beneficial effect with a 50% chance. Yup, that’s a bolt of lightning alright.

Gain Knowledge (Passive): Gains Knowledge by the number of granted beneficial effects when you’re granted with a beneficial effect. Gains 3 Knowledge when an enemy or ally gets defeated. You can have up to 5 Knowledge. [Automatic Effect] Odin here has the better Knowledge passive, so that’s always fun.

Legacy of Knowledge (Passive): Attacks the enemy while ignoring the enemy’s defense by 15% for every Knowledge you have whenever you attack. If you have 5 Knowledge, uses all of your Knowledge to attack while ignoring the enemy’s Defense. In addition, if you get defeated while having Knowledge, you will use all of your Knowledge to be revived with 20% HP per Knowledge used. [Automatic Effect] (Reusable in 11 turns) Okay, after Bolverk’s third skill, is it bad that Odin’s other passive doesn’t look nearly as overpowered?  Like, yeah, ignore defense is strong and all, plus it’s bundled with a revive, but Perna always revives with full HP. Odin, meanwhile, has to have 5 Knowledge to have a full HP revive; plus said revive is on a cooldown. I don’t think he’s that OP to be honest.

Maybe he’ll be exempt from the what has to be upcoming Lightning Emperor nerf.

Geldnir (Light Lightning Emperor) [HP]

Lightning Strike: Attacks the enemy and steals one beneficial effect with a 50% chance. We only have one last Lightning Strike to get through at this point! Is it bad I’m excited about that?

Learn Knowledge (Passive): Gains Knowledge by the number of granted beneficial effects when you or an enemy is granted with a beneficial effect. You can have up to 5 Knowledge. [Automatic Effect] Not as fun Knowledge passive coming through, you people.

Eye of Pioneer (Passive): If an ally is attacked, uses one of your Knowledge to heal the ally by 35% of the damage received. If you have 5 Knowledge, the ally will be healed by 70% of the damage received. [Automatic Effect] Huh. So Geldnir’s basically like Dias; he’s basically reducing the damage done to his allies by healing them a certain amount of the damage received. I really like this passive, honestly. On my list of “ten light and/or dark nat5s I want to get but probably never will,” Geldnir’s probably at number 4 or so; next to Pater, Giana and Yeonhong.

Herteit (Dark Lightning Emperor) [Attack]

Lightning Strike: Attacks the enemy and steals one beneficial effect with a 50% chance. YES, NO MORE FIRST SKILLS TO TRY AND THINK OF SOMETHING WITTY FOR –

Gain Knowledge (Passive): Gains Knowledge by the number of granted beneficial effects when you’re granted with a beneficial effect. Gains 3 Knowledge when an enemy or ally gets defeated. You can have up to 5 Knowledge. [Automatic Effect] …oh, I forgot about the second skills. Uhhh…

Knock knock. Who’s there? Bucky. Bucky who? Don’t worry, he doesn’t know either.

Endless Desire: Absorbs 25% of your Attack Power and Defense per Knowledge from the enemy target’s Attack Power and Defense. In addition, if you have 5 Knowledge, steals all beneficial effects granted on the enemy and instantly gains another turn. This skill can be used when you have at least 1 Knowledge, and all Knowledge will be consumed once you use this skill. (Accumulates up to 10 times) Yup, Herteit’s getting nerfed, too. Calling it now. I mean, once this accumulates all ten times, he’d have absorbed 250% of the enemy’s attack power and defense! He’d basically be unkillable while nuking everyone in the battlefield!

Anyway, the Lightning Emperors are super overpowered, but don’t expect them to stay this way forever. Remember with the twins, and how they all attacked at once, but then Com2uS nerfed them, like, two weeks later, so that only two ChakBooms at a time attacked? That’s gonna happen with this. This has been Sara Ann, and I’ll see you in the next article.
