Bernard is an awesome support that speeds up your entire team. He is the bread and butter of Giants B10, ToA and some arena teams.

Most people would go with the standard Swift/Energy(Spd/Hp%/Acc%). Look for speed substats. The biggest reason for this is to be able to move first in arena fights. With the 30% ATB boost, you are almost guaranteed to have your entire team go first unless you have some slow monsters. That is huge in the arena. When all your damage monsters go first in battle, you can wipe out the entire enemy team, which is key to winning most arena matches.
Important Substats: Spd, Hp%, Acc%
Tower of Ascension Viability
Benard is very useful in both normal and hard versions. His speed up ability means your team can go twice before the enemy can move. You do need a fast team though. His attack and defense debuff will be useful against hard hitting monsters. I use him in maps where the enemies are fast. Pair him with Spectra and you got a monster duo that literally gives you 2 turn advantages.
Giants and Dragons B10 Viability
Bernard is used all the time in Giants B10. His speed buff and attack debuff is vital to keeping the giant from wiping out your team. He is core to your stable runs alongside Shannon, Belladeon and Veromos.
He is not viable for Dragons B10 due to element disadvantage.
Bernard doesn’t have any multi hit skills. His ATB increase and speed will be nullified by the speed cap. So do not use him here.
Arena and Guild Wars Viability
He is viable for offense but not quite for defense. For offense, you will always gain first turn if your bernard is very fast. You then team him up with people like Lushen, Zaiross or any other strong attacker and you will wreck havoc.
As for guild wars, he is usually paired with a Galleon and another attacker with preferably fast speed. This ensures that the team always goes first.
Now for defense, he isn’t the best since most of the time, the AI doesn’t use Tailwind 100% of the time. That means it is really random and your odds of a successful defense will be lower.
Conclusion: Keep and max!
I personally have him at 6 stars now and he is awesome. The utility he brings is just too good. Just make sure to 6 star your farmers first before 6 starring Bernard.
