Monster Spotlight: The Water Masters Liam & Kyle + Dragons Abyss Hard Team
Let’s take a closer look at two water monsters – Liam, the Water Weapon Master and Kyle, the Water Poison Master. What can they be used for and how should they be runed? We have the answers in this article and also in our video:
I am using Liam and Kyle in my Dragons Abyssal hard speed team. They both deal a lot of damage and help defeat the boss easily. This team also involves Shaina, Julie and Konamiya. All monsters need very good runes, most of them should be on fight sets to give Liam and Kyle more ATK to do their job in the most efficient way.
Dragon Abyss Hard Team
The plan is to have Shaina take care of the AoE defense break, followed by Julie to clear the waves between the bosses. Julie has a perfect AI, she will always use her 3rd skill, whereas Shaina might not always do what she is supposed to do or might miss a defense break. This is not an issue, the run will be a bit slower, but it should still work. Liam’s 3rd Skill “Unlimited Power” is very strong against bosses:
Attacks all enemies and stuns for 1 turn if there are 4 or more enemies. The damage increases the higher the enemy’s current HP. Attacks the selected target 6 times if there are 3 or fewer enemies and deals damage that ignores Defense up to 100% the lower the target’s current HP. (Reusable in 5 turns)
In the boss stages, there are always just 3 enemies, so Liam’s 3rd skill will attack 6 times. Additional damage (by ATK) Artifacts are very strong here! If you reduce the Dragon’s HP enough, Liam will always use this skill, if it’s available. And here comes Kyle in play: he is supposed to deal as much damage to the boss, as possible. You’ll need extremely good runes in order to hit the threshold.
Konamiya makes the runs safer, because it can cleanse the dots, the dragon boss is dealing when attacking. However, Kona’s main task is to give the attack buff and instantly another turn to the monster in your team with the lowest attack bar (that means the monster, that turned right before Konamiya). You want that to be Kyle, because only with more attacks and the attack buff, he is able to deal the necessary damage.
Kyle will attack 2 times, per turn. So, with the attack bar push from Kona, Kyle is dealing 4 hits on the enemy. This is also useful, if Shaina isn’t able to defense break all enemies in the trash waves. He will clean up very fast and you won’t lose too much time.
As an alternative, you could use Water Dhalsim instead of Kyle. It is the same monster, but it’s the special Streetfighter-Collaboration version of it. Its skill animations are slightly faster, which helps you to get even faster run times.
Summary
Skill ups are needed for Kyle / Dhalsim! The defense break on his second skill will have a higher activation rate, the damage is increased by 20%, and also this skill’s cooldown time is reduced by 2 turns. Liam does not need to be fully skilled up. If his 3rd skill is maxed, he deals more damage and has this skill available 1 turn earlier. The first and second skills are not that important as he just needs to deal the final damage to the Dragon with the third skill.
You can clear the Dragons Abyssal hard dungeon in about 30 seconds with this team. My personal average is around 40 – 45 seconds, because I haven’t been able to one-shot the boss with my current runes. You can see a run of my team in our YouTube video. I’ll also show you the runes and artifacts I am using on this team.
Keep in mind: This is a speed team for the Dragons Abyss hard dungeon. You’ll need very strong runes for it. In particular, there’s a high demand for Fight runes that provide a good Crit Rate, Crit Damage, and Attack. If you don’t have the right runes for this team, you should choose a safe team over a speed team.
Other Content
Liam can also be used in the following content: Necropolis, as multi-hitter against the boss’ passive skill and also for Siege offense. There are better options, but if you’ve already built Liam for Dragons Abyssal hard, you can try him in these content as well.
Kyle can also be a part of a safe Giants team. If you’re looking for a speed Giants team (average. 30 seconds / run !!) you should not miss our next monster spotlight – can you guess which monster it will be?
I hope this article helped you figure out the best way to use Liam and Kyle. In case you have any questions or need help for this team – don’t hesitate and ask on our Discord.
